Raster Image:
Raster graphics are digital images created or captured (for example, by scanning in a photo) as a set of samples of a given space. A raster is a grid of x and y coordinates on a display space.

BMP:
An BMP image is also known as a bitmap image flie(Device independent bitmap file format) also BPM is an uncompressed file meaning than it would have a better image quality and the BMP file format is universal. Reference - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n8ZY5l5iTk

GIF:
GIF sands for graphics interchange format and its a format that uses lossless compression also GIF or GIF's can be images that are animated.

"A GIF (with the file extension, .gif) is basically an image file format that is animated by combining several other images or frames into a single file." Reference - https://smallbiztrends.com/2016/03/what-is-a-gif.html

TIFF

"TIFF (Tag Image File Format) is a common format for exchanging raster graphics (bitmap) images between application programs, including those used for scannerimages." - Reference - http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/TIFF-Tag-Image-File-Format

JPG

"JPG is a file extension for a lossy graphics file. The JPEG file extension is used interchangeably with JPG. JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group who created the standard." Reference - http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/JPG-JPEG-bitmap

Vector image

vector images are images that don't get pix elated when you zoom into them. Also vector images are uncompressed meaning the file size of them would be large.

"Vector images, alternatively, allow for more flexibility. Constructed using mathematical formulas rather than individual colored blocks, vector file types such as EPS, AI and PDF* are excellent for creating graphics that frequently require resizing." - Reference - https://modassicmarketing.com/understanding-image-file-types

psd:
"A .PSD file is a layered image file used in Adobe PhotoShop. PSD, which stands for Photoshop Document, is the default format that Photoshop uses for saving data. PSD is a proprietary file that allows the user to work with the images' individual layers even after the file has been saved" Reference - http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/PSD-Adobe-Photoshop-default

WMF:
"WMF is a file extension for a graphics file used with Microsoft Windows. WMF stands for Windows MetaFile. WMF files can contain both vector and bitmap image information." Reference - http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/WMF-Metafile-Microsoft-Windows

FLA:
"Files that contain the .fla file extension are files that are used by the Adobe Flash application." "The FLA file is a raw editable file that is saved by the Flash software application." - Reference - https://file.org/extension/fla

AI:
"AI is a file extension for a vector graphics file format used in an Adobe Illustrator drawing." - Reference - http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/AI-Adobe-Illustrator-drawing

"It is composed of paths connected by points, rather than bitmap image data. AI files are commonly used for logos and print media." Reference - https://fileinfo.com/extension/ai

When and Why use one image other another?
when creating an image is is best to use a vector image because the image would be of a high quality because vector images don't get pixaleled and this makes them better to edit but when uploading an image to a website or blog it is best to use a raster image because the image file is smaller and it would be quicker to upload it also it is better to store images in this format
