purpose components:
the purpose of the story is to show that if at least you have an inspiration then your artwork no
matter how badly drawn can become something amazing and this show people that the can create
amazing art even though if they think they can’t.plot devices
the plot device in this story is the fact that B08 finds out that the future is in ruins because of the
doodles destroying every piece of artwork that is not a doodle. This drives the plot forward because
now the main character has to complete a sub goal to achieve the main goal of becoming the
world’s best artist. The sub goal of B08 is to defeat the doodles and restore the worlds creativity
back to what it used to be allowing him to understand how the artists created emotions in people
with their work.
character types
the protagonist of the game is called B08 he is the robot which was previously owned by his mater
which we don’t know the name of because he constantly refers to him as master. After his master
passes away B08 decides to continue his work of becoming the world’s best artist but to do that B08
has to understand work to create emotions in the viewer. To do this B08 must study this by traveling
to the future and then the past to understand how the artists of those days did that.
The antagonist is Captain doodle who lives in the far future and has created an army of doodles to
destroy every piece of art work on earth that is not a doodle. He does this so that there is no better
art than him making Captain doodle feel as with he is the best in the world and making everybody
look worse than him. He creates his army by capturing artists and making them draw plain grey
doodles basically taking away their creativity.
My static character is Harry which B08 meets in the future and he explains everything that happened
to the world to B08. Through out the whole story Harry stays the same only being friendly towards
B08 which makes him the static character of the story.
And my dynamic character is the Friendly doodle which saves B08 and Harry from the attacking
doodles in the story. He is the dynamic character because at first he too destroys artwork and acts
like the other doodles but after meeting B08 and Harry he changes and becomes friends with B08
and helps him defeat the evil Captain doodle.
character backstory
in the story we are introduced to the back story of B08. His back story explains how he came to
existence and what his first interaction with humans where (him serving his master who passed
away).
Also there is a back story about Captain doodle which was created by an uninspired artist who
thought that the art of the doodle will amaze the world but he was met with many criticism and
finally ignored which made the Captain doodle hate every piece of art work that wasn’t a doodle and
that where his plans of destroying the artwork came from.
narrative flow:
the story has one instance of a branching narrative where the main character B08 designs his
weapon and gets ready to fight the doodles but he has an internal conflict that makes him think of
coming back to the past and leaving the futures problems because he think that it might create a
time paradox and if the player chooses to go back to the past then the player gets the bad ending
which has B08 leaving all of his friends in the future and not completing his masters dream of
becoming the world’s greatest artist but if the player decides to stay then B08 proceeds to defeat
the evil Captain doodle and restores the worlds creativity and makes B08 finally understand how
artist used art to create emotions in the viewer and that makes him the best artist in the world.
reflections on finished game story.
Looking at finished story I can say that there are many thing I want to still add to it for example I
want to further develop 3 of the character Captain doodle, Harry and the friendly doodle because I
feel like they are absent through out the story and could use a bit more depth which could make
them more memorable. Also the ending could use a lot more detail because it seems very brief
which will affect the experience because it says nothing more than B08 went there and did this and
at the end got this as a reward.
