Computer Game Graphics

Pixal Art:

pixel art is a type of art that presents it self in 8 bit. The art style looks really blocky this art style is mostly used in 2d games but there were games made in 3d using that style the following titles fall under this category of 3d pixel art games; Nights at Cube Pizzeria 3D, Cube Bad Pig City Rampage 3D, Cube Island Survival Simulator and many more.

Concept Art:
Concept art is a visual representation of an idea for a video game or a film. these ideas can range from characters to stages. These are mostly used to present your idea of a game to the publisher and other developer which then can give you feedback of how you can improve the idea. Concept art can be used to promote the game by leaking some of it just before the relieve, this way the gaming community would start to speculate about the art a create "hype" around the game.

"The main goal of concept art is to convey a visual representation of a design, idea, and/or mood for use in films, video games, animation, or comic books before it is put into the final product. In other words, it aims to convey the overall design vision rather than specify everything in exact terms right at the start."

Texture Art:

Texture art is the layers applied to a object is the game that make the object look more realistic. the texture art can make the objects look smooth or sharp also they can make then look hard or soft eg(rocks, pillows). This makes the games look more photo realistic and can appeal more to the player.

"The texture artist's main duty is to create photorealistic textures for mapping onto 3-D objects used in video games, films, television, music videos, or commercials—like wrapping a gift box in patterned paper."

Background Graphics:

Background graphics in game are very important they are the thing that sets the mood for the player and also to set the stage. Also this makes the game look better because there is something in the background to look at and its not just a plain white background. Background graphics can be thing/assets like clouds forests or fields in the distance by implementing these you don't allow the player to see stuff they aren't supposed to see like empty spaces or un-rendered assets.

"Background graphics are objects that are present in a game environment. They may be 'natural' features, such as trees or ditches, or they could be man-made, such as temples or vehicles. When you are playing the game, you may or may not be able to interact with these objects."

In Game Interface eg Head Up Display - HUD:

Head up Display or HUD is the thing the player see's while playing the game. things such as the mini map, ammo count or health of the player. these assets are needed is some games but available is all of the newer realises they help the player to navigate the map or get important information such as how much stamina they have or in survival games how much hunger they have or the quick access inventory to change equipment on the fly with out pausing and breaking the immersion. Some gamer's think   that having the HUD on at all time's breaks the immersion in the game by distracting you while driving a car or while battening another player online that's while some gamer's disable the HUD in games and play with out them.

A brief History of HUDs

"HUDs or Heads Up Displays get their name from the display technology used to project flight information onto the windshields of modern aircraft. While they haven't always gone by the same name, HUDs have been around since the advent of video games; displaying game information such as score, level progression, character health and equipped items amongst others."

Print Media:
Print media in video games is things like posters, physical game covers, gaming magazines or manuals. many people think that print media in video games is not important because most of gaming is now going to be digital in the future, so people think that spending money on printing poster and game covers is pointless because the money could have gone on development of the game to improve the story or gameplay but Print Media is very important because its a way for the developers to advertise the game to give the game a boost is sales and to reach a wider audience. This is used because using digital advertisement could be more costly when advertising using posters can be cheaper also some developers have to print game covers anyway which means that it doesn't cost them more than usual but they still get the advertisement for it. Also some gamer's prefer to buy games physically to be able to show of their physical gaming collection.
